The Next Chapter in Qatar's Tourism Strategy
For the first time, Qatar hosted UNWTO World Tourism Day Celebrations held under the patronage of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani on 27th September 2017 in Doha, co-organized by QTA
More than 500 international and local delegates attended the conference which was held at Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel in Doha. The conference program focused on “Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development” in worldwide travel and tourism.
More than 20 international speakers took part in the conference program, including H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, H.E. Akbar Al Baker, Chief Tourism Development Officer of Qatar Tourism Authority, Hassan Al Ibrahim and Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation, among others.
One of the most important highlights was the introduction of The Next ChapterQatar National Tourism Sector Strategy (QNTSS) which was introduced jointly by H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar, and Hassan Al Ibrahim, Chief Tourism Development Officer of Tourism Authority. The Next Chapter of QNTSS outlined Qatar’s plans in strengthening investments in and development of the country’s tourism sector.
